Testosterone cypionate is a prescription drug. It comes in the form of a solution for injection that is given into a muscle. Testosterone cypionate is a medicine that you can inject yourself. You can take this medicine at home after your doctor has shown you how to do it.

Testosterone Cypionate is available under the brand name Depo-Testosterone. It is also available as a generic drug. Generic drugs are generally less expensive than a branded version. In some cases, they may not be available as a brand name medicine in all of its strengths or forms.

Because it is used

Testosterone cypionate is used to treat symptoms of hypogonadism in men. In this condition, men do not produce enough testosterone, a sex hormone.

Low levels of testosterone in men can lead to mood swings, poor concentration, erectile dysfunction (problems getting or keeping an erection), and a low appetite for sex. It can also cause decreased penile and testicular growth, gynecomastia (breast growth), loss of body hair and muscle mass, anemia, and osteoporosis.

There are two types of hypogonadism: primary and hypogonadotropic. This medicine can be used to treat both.

Primary hypogonadism occurs when the testes cannot produce enough testosterone.

Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism occurs when the parts of the brain (hypothalamus or pituitary gland) that tell the testes about testosterone production are damaged.
